Block 3: Existing On The Fringes
Caught between worlds, identities and expectations
Rejoice (7mins)
Mystic Park (16mins)
Faceless (28mins)
A collection of shorts unafraid to delve into the grittier side of life, this block takes us through the justified rage of female adolescence, the effects of colonialism in all parts of life in the urban sphere, and a place and man haunted by conspiracies. They deal with unresolved pasts, grappling head on with the effects on the present. The atmosphere these films create is eerie and haunting despite their differing subject matter and distinct formal approaches. Many of the artists part of the collective, Dogmilk, had a hand in creating these films and so this selection hopes also to spotlight their idiosyncratic and always exciting output.
