The unromantic realities of ordinary life are at the heart of this collection of restrained shorts, where drama emerges in the everyday and meaning is invoked through connection to others. These films look at the relentlessness of labour under contemporary working conditions, generational differences in the outlook on one’s vocation, the subtle yet profound ways in which migrant families support one another and the effects of urban environments on our ability to connect to space and people. 

Programmer's note: These films get to the depth of what it feels like to live in the precarious environments we inhabit today. There is, however, a strong sense that purpose is to be found in connection with others despite the various challenges we may face in keeping afloat economically and emotionally. They are understated yet deeply affecting. There is an interest in form and a great consideration of how meaning can be made through images.
